VILLANOVA, PA—The NJIT men's tennis team won its second consecutive 5-2 victory Saturday, defeating Villanova.
 
NJIT, which improves to 10-5 on the season swept the doubles contests and won four out of six singles contests for the 5-2 win.  Villanova drops to 3-14 on the season.
 
Doubles pair Holger Norregaard and Markus Schultz started off the match with an 8-2 victory at second doubles, topping Villanova's Bradley Noyes and Joseph Monaldo.  Norregaard won in straight sets at second singles with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Mark Miller, while Schultz dropped a tight three-set tilt at first singles, 5-7, 7-6(4), 10-4 to Villanova's Thomas O'Brien.
 
Sophomore duo Carl Jedlinski and Arnaud Holl won 8-6 at third doubles defeating Matt Colonnese and Michael Rosengren.  Holl won in straight sets at the fifth spot, 6-4, 6-3 over Rosengren while Jedlinski went the distance at sixth singles but came up short, 6-3, 1-6, 10-6 against Villanova's Colonnese.
 
At first doubles, Andres Alban and Erik Artursson's match did not finish, as the Highlander pair held a 6-4 lead over O'Brien and Kelly Donaldson.  Alban won easily at third singles, 6-1, 6-0 topping Ryan Peyton while Artursson dropped his first set at fourth singles, 7-5, to Noyes but bounced back with a 7-6(4), 6-4 victory.
 
NJIT will return to action on Sunday when the Highlanders visit Stony Brook at 12pm.
