NEWARK, NJ—The NJIT women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to visiting Fairleigh Dickinson Saturday afternoon at The Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility.
 
Fairleigh Dickinson, two-time defending Northeast Conference champions, won five out of six singles matches to secure a 5-2 victory from the Highlanders.
 
The Highlanders (2-1) won the doubles point taking two out of three matches.  Brazilian natives Natalia Melibeu and Carolina Zanotta were 8-4 winners at second doubles defeating FDU's Nicole Chris and Shreya Pasricha.
 
NJIT duo Hannelore MacDonald and Nathalie Habegger won 8-6 at third doubles topping Mariya Krachok and Manuela Leme.  MacDonald, a senior from Mundelein, IL was the only double-winner on the day for the Highlanders taking Knights Manuela Leme at sixth singles.
 
The NJIT women's tennis team will return to action on Saturday at 2pm when the Highlanders host Fordham at The Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility.
