NJIT Women's Basketball Gameday InformationAfter seven days off since the NJIT women's basketball team last played, the Highlanders will return to action in South Carolina when NJIT visits Clemson on December 29 at 1pm in Littlejohn Coliseum.
The game was originally slated for 7pm, but has been moved up due to the Clemson football team's 5:30pm kickoff in the Russell Athletic Bowl.
NJIT (5-9), which is on a five-game skid, will close out the month of December at Clemson before tipping off the New Year at Wofford, also in South Carolina, on January 2.
The Highlanders are coming off a 66-50 loss at Lafayette on December 21. Despite the loss, NJIT had three double-figure scorers led by seniors
Martina Matejcikova and
Nicole Maticka, who came off the bench to score 11 points apiece, while sophomore forward
Leah Horton added 10 points and eight rebounds. Senior guard
Kim Tullis pulled down nine rebounds, one rebound shy her personal-best 10 vs. Binghamton (December 6) and Florida Atlantic (November 28).
NJIT has two players averaging double-figures–sophomore forward
Leah Horton (10.9ppg) and senior guard
Alyssa Albanese (10.5ppg). Horton tops the team in rebounds (7.4rpg) while Albanese leads the team in assists (56) and steals (17).
Sophomore guard
Alana Dudley, who has played in all 14 games, including six starts, is averaging 9.2ppg while leading the Highlanders with 14 three-point field goals made.
Clemson (7-5) entesr Monday's contest winners of the last four games and owning a perfect 7-0 at home in Littlejohn Coliseum. The Tigers' win streak began at home on December 6 with a 76-61 victory over Tennessee Tech followed by wins over North Dakota (72-67), Longwood (72-52), and South Carolina State (66-57).
The Tigers were selected to finish 13
th out of 15 teams in the 2014-15 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Preseason Coaches' poll and senior guard Nikki Dixon was one of 10 players named to the Preseason All-ACC team.
This will be Clemson's last non-conference game of the season before it opens up ACC play on January 2 by hosting Virginia Tech.
Dixon, the Tigers 5-foot-10 guard who was named to the Preseason All-ACC team, paces Clemson with 15.6ppg while shooting 53 percent from the field (65-122) and 77 percent from the free throw line (51-66). Dixon has led the Tigers in scoring in three of the lastr four contests, with a season-high 26 points vs. Tennessee Tech.
Clemson and NJIT first met in Newark on January 2, 2014 , ith the Tigers coming out on top 84-37 led by Dixon's game-high 24 points.
