The NJIT women's basketball team will return to action on Saturday, January 11, hosting Ivy League opponent Brown at 2pm in the Estelle and Zoom Fleisher Athletic Center.
The Highlanders enter Saturday's contest with a 4-15 overall record, having lost three consecutive games, most recently a 75-72 overtime loss at Delaware State on Tuesday, January 7.
The Highlanders, who went to overtime for the first time this season, led by as many as 15 points in the first half (38-23), in a game that saw four ties and one lead change all night.
Delaware State made a thrilling comeback to erase the 15-point deficit and tie the game at 47 for the first time with eight minutes remaining in regulation. But the Highlanders scored the final seven points of the second half in 16 seconds to force overtime. Raven Bankston scored 10 of Delaware State's 12 overtime points, helping the Hornets prevail to a 75-72 victory.

Shakia Robinson is the only double-figure scorer averaging 11.3ppg while ranking second on the team with 6.4rpg. Robinson is shooting 62 percent from the field (93-151) for the Highlanders. She notched her third double-double of the season, all of which have come in the last four games, with a team-high 18 points and 13 rebounds at Delaware State.
Uju Nwankwo, the Highlanders 6-foot-1 forward is NJIT's second leading scorer with 8.9ppg and tops the team with 9.3rpg (ranked 63rd in the nation) and 29 blocks (89th in the nation).
Brown, which finished with a 9-19 overall record and 3-11 in the Ivy League in 2012-13, was selected to finish seventh out of eight teams in the 2013-14 Ivy League Preseason Coaches' Poll.
After snapping a three-game losing streak with a 61-51 win over Vermont on Monday, the Brown women's basketball team concludes its non-conference schedule with a road tilt at NJIT on Saturday afternoon. Brown comes to Newark with a 6-7 win-loss mark.
Lauren Clarke, the Bears leading scorer in 2012-13, leads the team with 17.8ppg and ranks second with 3.5rpg. Clarke notched a career-high 28pts in a 77-74 overtime loss to New Hampshire on January 3, 2014.
The Bears other double-figure scorer is Sophie Bikofsky, who tops the nation with 3.67 three-pointers per game and three-point field goal percentage (.530). She is averaging 15.4ppg and leads the team with Carly Wellington with 4.5rpg. Bikofsky has scored in double-figures in 11 out of 13 games this season.
The Bears as a team rank fifth in the nation in three-point field goal percentage, connecting on 40.8 percent of their attempts from behind the arc.
Jordin Alexander has reached double figures in four consecutive games for the Bears, shooting 18-of-27 (.667) from the field during that span.
Saturday marks the fourth meeting all-time between the two schools with the Highlanders holding a 2-1 edge. The Bears broke through last season with a 53-51 win at the Pizzitola Sports Center on January 15, 2013. Brown is 0-1 all-time at the Estelle Zoom Fleisher Athletic Center, dropping a 70-66 decision on November 13, 2011.
