NEWARK, NJ—The NJIT women's tennis team swept visiting Saint Peter's, 7-0, Sunday at The Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility.
 
NJIT (2-0) won first and second doubles by identical scores and won by default at the third spot to earn the doubles point while taking all six singles matches in straight sets from the Peacocks Sunday. 
 
Highlander pair Ksenia Kuzmenko and Jana Luste won at first doubles, 8-2, defeating Saint Peter's Adina Halagian and Lucia Radovic.  Luste topped Halagian 6-5 (5), 6-2 at first singles.
 
NJIT's doubles duo Carolina Zanotta and Natalia Melibeu were 8-2 winners at second doubles topping Peacock's Ivana Grgelja and Elena Melian.  Zanotta won by identical scores, 6-0, 6-0 at third singles.
 
At third doubles, Hannelore MacDonald and Nathalie Habegger won by default for the Highlanders.  Habegger was a 6-2, 6-0 winner at second singles over Saint Peter's Grbelja while MacDonald followed with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at the fourth spot defeating Radovic.
 
Senior Megan Guidry was a 6-5(2), 6-2 winner at fifth singles.
 
NJIT will return to action on Saturday when the Highlanders host Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday at 11am.
