NEWARK, DE — NJIT women's tennis dropped a 4-0 decision at Delaware on Friday afternoon at the DFH Outdoor Courts.
The Blue Hens secured the doubles point with victories at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions.
The No. 2 doubles match featuring NJIT's Petra Koszo and Lusia Hepcal Barcan against Navya Vadlamudi and Amelia Gorman was left unfinished at 5-3.
In singles play, Delaware clinched the match with straight-set victories on courts five, four, and six.
Three singles matches went unfinished.
At No. 1, Laura Wipfli was in a tight battle with Maryia Hrynashka, falling in the first set tiebreak, 7-6 (8-6), before the match was halted at 1-1 in the second.
Paula Menendez Alvarez trailed Paulina Jurkowska, 6-1, 3-2, at No. 2 singles, while Irene Cocero was down 6-2, 5-4 to Amelia Gorman at the No. 3 spot when play was stopped.
NJIT moves to 14-5 on the season, while Delaware improves to 18-4.
