NEWARK, NJ – Senior
Laura Wipfli has been named Big South Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.
Wipfli earns her third Player of the Week honor this season after leading the Highlanders to a 2-0 week with victories over Temple and Drexel.
Against Temple, Wipfli teamed with Irene Cocero to secure a strong 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles over Thamara Frasser Kawaratani and Maria Wang Martinez. In singles action, Wipfli showed resilience at the top spot, rallying after dropping the first set to defeat Irmak Ozturk, 3-6, 7-5, 7-5.
The duo of Wipfli and Cocero continued their success against Drexel, posting a 6-4 victory at No. 1 doubles over Adva Dabah and Lorie Lemongo. In singles, Wipfli once again battled back from a set down, defeating Lemongo, 6-7, 6-4, 6-2, at the top of the lineup.
