WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ — NJIT improved to 14-5 on the season with a 5-2 victory over Monmouth on Wednesday at the MU Outdoor Tennis Courts.
After dropping the doubles point, NJIT, winners of four in a row, responded with a strong showing in singles play, winning five of six matches to secure the win.
In doubles action, Monmouth claimed victories at the top two positions to earn the doubles point. NJIT picked up its lone doubles victory at No. 3 doubles, where Petra Koszo and Lusia Hepcal Barcan earned a 6-2 victory over Becky Fisher and Emilia Julin.
NJIT dominated singles play, beginning with straight-set wins at the top of the lineup. At No. 1 singles, Laura Wipfli defeated Pavitra Parikh, 6-3, 6-4, while No. 2 Paula Menendez Alvarez cruised past Hana McKinney, 6-1, 6-4.
Irene Cocero secured a three-set win at No. 3 singles, topping Faith Sadgrove, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1. NJIT also picked up straight-set victories from Petra Koszo at No. 5, who defeated Becky Fisher, 6-4, 6-2, and Lusia Hepcal Barcan at No. 6, who closed out Emilia Julin, 6-0, 7-6.

NJIT will conclude the regular season slate on Friday at 1pm when the Highlanders visit Delaware ahead of the 2026 Big South Conference Tournament scheduled for next week, April 16-18 in Lexington, SC.
