Stony Brook Nips NJIT, 4-3

STONY BROOK, NY—Stony Brook nipped visiting NJIT, 4-3, Sunday afternoon in men's tennis action.
 
The Highlanders, who dropped their second consecutive match, are now 16-5 overall on the season.  NJIT earned the doubles point with wins at second and third doubles but Stony Brook won four out of six singles contests earning the 4-3 victory.
 
Highlander duo Andres Alban and Erik Artursson were 8-4 winners at second doubles while Fraser Croad and Petr Rousar combined for an 8-3 victory at the third spot.
 
Freshman Markus Schultz won in straight sets at first singles, 6-2, 6-4 and Norregaard was a 2-6, 7-5, 4-3 retire at second singles for NJIT.
 
The Highlanders will close out the 2013 season on April 21 against Northern Kentucky at Noon.  The match will be played at Thomas Edison Park in Edison, NJ.
