Men’s Tennis Wraps Up Spring Break Trip With 5-2 Win Over The Citadel

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC—The NJIT men's team defeated The Citadel, 5-2, Thursday to wrap up three-match sweep of the team's annual Spring Break trip at the Hilton Head Island Beach and Tennis Resort.

NJIT, winners of its last six out of seven matches, earned the doubles point taking two out of three doubles contests and took four out of six singles contests for the 5-2 victory.  The win improves the Highlanders to 13-3 on the season.

Highlander pair Markus Schultz and Fraser Croad were 8-1 winners at second doubles.  Schultz, competing at first singles, followed up with a straight-sets win over David Orces, 6-4, 6-0.

Andres Alban and Jack Felich, the Highlanders freshman duo, won 8-3 at third doubles, earning the point for NJIT.  Alban followed up with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at fourth singles over James Atkinson.

Holger Norregaard won by identical scores, 6-3, 6-3 at second singles while Erik Artursson won a three-set tilt at the fifth spot over Elliott Sperr, 6-7(4), 6-4, 6-4.

NJIT, which will play the remainder of its schedule on the road, will first visit Villanova on March 24 at 2:30pm.
