Box Score

NEWARK, NJ—The NJIT men's tennis win streak was halted on Saturday as visiting James Madison defeated the Highlanders, 5-2, at The Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility.

The streak started back in September for the Highlanders with a 6-1 victory over Rider and was snapped by visiting JMU Saturday, as the Dukes earned the doubles point and won four out of six singles matches.

Highlander doubles partners Holger Norregaard and Markus Schultz were 8-5 winners at the second spot but JMU used a 9-8(7) victory at first doubles and a 8-5 victory at the third spot to earn the doubles point.

Schultz, the only double-winner on the day for the Highlanders, won in straight sets over Greg Vladimirsky, 6-2, 7-6(2) at second singles.

The other Highlander winner on the day was freshman Erik Artursson at the fifth spot, taking Maxi Branth in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2.

NJIT will return to action at home on February 22 when the Highlanders host St. Francis (NY) at 6pm in The Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility before playing the next four matches on the road.
