NJIT Women’s Tennis Makes It Six In A Row

NEWARK, NJ—The NJIT women's tennis team made it six wins in a row Friday with its second consecutive 6-1 victory over Seton Hall at The Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility.
 
The Highlanders improve to 10-2 overall and are a perfect 8-0 at The Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility.  NJIT will close out the 2012 home portion of its schedule on Sunday, March 25 at 12pm vs. Saint Joseph's.
 
NJIT snapped Seton Hall's two-match win streak, earning the doubles point and recording five out of six singles contests.  The Pirates only point came at fifth singles in a three set tilt.
 
Highlanders Hannelore MacDonald and Ksenia Kuzmenko topped the Pirates at second doubles, 8-2, and followed up at the third spot with a 8-1 victory from Monika Graff and Carolina Zanotta.
 
Kuzmenko won in straight sets at first singles over Seton Hall's Chloe Sher, 7-6 (5), 6-3.  Senior Nina Mayevska was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at second singles over Rocio Portela.
 
Graff and Jana Luste also won in straight sets at third and fourth singles.  Graff defeated Seton Hall's Elizabeth Verow, 6-3, 7-5 and Luste earned a 6-0, 6-2 victory at the fourth spot.
 
Sophomore Martina Tripcovici, competing at the sixth spot, dropped the first set, 6-2, but bounced back in the next two frames, 6-2, 10-4 for the victory.
 
The Highlanders will break for spring break and head to Orlando, Florida where they will face North Dakota on March 12 at 8:00am.
