Friday’s NJIT WBB at St. John’s Game Will Be Streamed Live on ESPN3

QUEENS, NY
–Friday's NJIT women's basketball game between the St. John's Red Storm will be televised on ESPN3, starting at 7pm, with Ralph Bednarczyk and former Marist guard Julianne Viani calling the action.
 
ESPN3 (formerly ESPN360.com) is an online streaming service for WatchESPN to deliver both live streams and replays of global sports events to sports fans.

NJIT Notes
NJIT (6-7) has dropped its last two contests - at VCU (64-54) and at No. 11/10 Penn State (82-37) coming into Friday's match-up at St. John's.  This will be the first meeting between the two teams.
 
Penn State is the highest nationally ranked team the Highlanders have faced since competing against a Division I schedule (2006-07).  NJIT faced DePaul (No. 13/18) in 2010-11 in Chicago.
 
Prior to the two losses on the road for the Highlanders, NJIT had won back-to-back contests at home vs. Delaware State (55-42) and at Saint Peter's (62-35) before breaking for exams.
 
Friday's game will mark the fifth Big East team the Highlanders have faced since competing against a DI schedule.
 
The Highlanders are led by Preseason Great West Conference first-team honoree Rayven Johnson who is averaging 17.3ppg and 9.4rpg. The senior guard has scored in double-figures in 11-out-of-13 games this season with six double-doubles.
 
NJIT's other double-figurer scorer is Sarah Olson with 10.2ppg.  Olson, a sophomore guard, is a three-point threat from behind the arc leading the team with 32 three-point field goals made.  Olson is ranked tied for 55th in the nation (2.55).
 
Junior forward Uju Nwanwko, the 2012-13 CollegeSportsMadness Great West Conference Preseason first-team honoree, is third on the team in scoring (8.4ppg), second in rebounding (6.5rpg) and leads the team with 25 total blocks.
 
St. John's Notes
St. John's, which advanced to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen for the first time ever last season, comes into Friday's contest with a 5-5 record. 
 
The Red Storm is coming off a 75-72 loss at Quinnipiac on Decemeber 22 and prior to that game St. John's dropped a 53-52 overtime decision to No. 14/17 UCLA on a last second layup at the St. John's Charwells Holiday Classic.
 
Shenneika Smith, a 2012-13 Preseason All-Big East selection for the third-straight season and a Naismith Early Season Watch List candidate, leads St. John's in four categories -- 17.9ppg, 9.3rpg, 27 blocked shots and 22 steals. 
 
Nadirah McKenith, received 2012-13 Preseason All-Big East accolades and also named to the 2012-13 Naismith Player of the Year Early Season Watch List, is the Red Storm's other double-figurer scorer with 14.2ppg and ranks second with 6.2rpg.
 
Briana Brown, one of two players to start all 10 games, is averaging 9.1ppg and 6.0rpg while shooting 85 percent from the free throw line (22-for-26).
 
Former head coach Kim Barnes Arico coached at NJIT for two seasons (1997-99).  Barnes Arico helped the program transition from Division III?to Division II while being named New Jersey Coach of the Year after taking the program from a five-win total in her first season to 11 victories in her second season.
