Men’s Swimming Defeats Pace, Falls to Ramapo

MAHWAH, NJ
—Continuing their record breaking swims, the NJIT men's swimming team broke five school records as the beat Pace University, 70-51, and fell to Ramapo College, 53-69.

Leading the way, freshman Richard Seffrin broke two school records in the 1000 Freestyle (10:05.29, 1st place against Ramapo) and the 200 Breaststroke (2:16.13) where he placed 1st overall.

Freshman Brian Capozzola swam a recording breaking 58.12 in the 100 Backstroke and Freshman Dennis Popov broke the 200 Butterfly record with a time of 2:04.58, placing 1st against Pace.

Freshman Jonathan Drori rounded 5 broken records capturing the time in the 500 Freestyle (5:02.67).

Other notable swims included Sophomore JT Stefan's 2nd place finish against Pace in the 200 Backstroke (2:17.93). Popov finished first overall in the 100 Butterfly (55.25), Capozzola finished 1st overall in the 100 Freestyle (48.75), and Seffrin captured a first place finish in the 200 IM (2:05.02).

 Junior Victor Razuk finished 2nd to Popov against Pace in the 200 Butterfly (2:17.75) and Senior Shawn Bryan finished 1st against Pace in the 200 Freestyle and 2nd overall to Capozzola in the 100 Freestyle (50.09).

The Highlander 200 Freestyle Relay consisting of Capozzola, Drori, Popov, and Bryan finished 1st overall with a time of 1:30.52.

The Highlanders take on Division I rivals, Manhattan College and St. Francis Brooklyn tomorrow at NJIT's Fleisher Athletic Center.
