MAHWAH, NJ—Continuing their record breaking swims, the NJIT men's swimming team broke five school records as the beat Pace University, 70-51, and fell to Ramapo College, 53-69.
Leading the way, freshman
Richard Seffrin broke two school records in the 1000 Freestyle (10:05.29, 1
st place against Ramapo) and the 200 Breaststroke (2:16.13) where he placed 1
st overall.
Freshman
Brian Capozzola swam a recording breaking 58.12 in the 100 Backstroke and Freshman
Dennis Popov broke the 200 Butterfly record with a time of 2:04.58, placing 1
st against Pace.
Freshman
Jonathan Drori rounded 5 broken records capturing the time in the 500 Freestyle (5:02.67).
Other notable swims included Sophomore
JT Stefan's 2
nd place finish against Pace in the 200 Backstroke (2:17.93). Popov finished first overall in the 100 Butterfly (55.25), Capozzola finished 1
st overall in the 100 Freestyle (48.75), and Seffrin captured a first place finish in the 200 IM (2:05.02).
Junior
Victor Razuk finished 2
nd to Popov against Pace in the 200 Butterfly (2:17.75) and Senior
Shawn Bryan finished 1
st against Pace in the 200 Freestyle and 2
nd overall to Capozzola in the 100 Freestyle (50.09).
The Highlander 200 Freestyle Relay consisting of Capozzola, Drori, Popov, and Bryan finished 1
st overall with a time of 1:30.52.
The Highlanders take on Division I rivals, Manhattan College and St. Francis Brooklyn tomorrow at NJIT's Fleisher Athletic Center.
