NEWARK, NJ – The NJIT women's tennis team swept Saint Peter's, 7-0, Sunday afternoon in the Highlanders home opener at The Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility.
NJIT (2-0) won the six singles contests in straight sets and didn't allow more than three points in the doubles competition.
Highlander duo
Jana Luste and
Nina Mayevska were 8-1 winners at first doubles. Luste won at second singles, 6-4, 6-3 followed by a 6-3, 6-1 victory by Mayevska at the fourth spot.
Ksenia Kuzmenko and
Hannelore MacDonald defeated Saint Peter's Adina Ungurean-Halagian and Linnea Enoh-Janssen, 8-3 at second doubles. Kuzmenko playing at first singles won 6-0, 6-1.
NJIT pair
Carolina Zanotta and
Monika Graff blanked the Peahens Ivana Grblja and Vanessa Vogel, 8-0, at third doubles. Zanotta won in straight sets at fourth singles, 6-3, 6-0.
Sophomore
Martina Tripcovici and
Megan Guidry were winners at fifth and sixth singles. Tripcovici won 6-1, 6-2 while Guidry was a 6-2, 6-1 winner.
The Highlanders will return to action on Friday, February 3 at 6pm and host Manhattan in The Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility.
