NEWARK, NJ – The NJIT men's tennis recorded its third straight, 7-0, decision over Saint Peter's Sunday afternoon in the Highlanders
home opener at The Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility.
The Highlanders (3-0) won all six singles matches and swept three doubles contests for the team's third straight win of the season.
Doubles pair
Petr Rousar and
Victor Martinez started the match off with an 8-5 victory at first doubles. Martinez won in straight sets at third singles, 6-3, 7-5 while Rousar went the distance with Saint Peter's Sebastian Barbero, 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 at the second spot.
Holger Norregaard and
Ike Kiro were 8-3 winners over Peahens Luccas Coutinho and Charlie Carrera at second doubles. Norregaaard won 7-5(5), 6-3 at first singles and Kiro topped Coutinho 6-3, 7-5.
Junior
Joao Tasca and
Bryan Keelan won 8-1 at third doubles for NJIT.
Fraser Croad won 6-3, 6-0 at fifth singles and
Dan Salomon won by identical scores, 6-0, 6-0 over Brian Ventura at the final spot.
The Highlanders will return to action on Friday, February 3 at 6pm and host Manhattan in The Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility.
