NEWARK, NJ – The NJIT women's tennis team claimed its sixth straight victory of the season with a 6-1 win over visiting Manhattan Wednesday afternoon at The Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility.
The Highlanders (11-7) swept the doubles contests and won five out of six singles matches in straight sets.
Doubles pair Ksenia Kuzmenko and Hannelore MacDonald were 8-1 winners at first doubles. Kuzmenko and MacDonald won by identical scores, 6-1, 6-2 at first and fourth singles.
Highlander duo Monika Graff and Ana Lidon blanked Manhattan's Lili Johnson and Stephanie Tsao, 8-0 at second doubles. Lidon won at fifth singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Martina Tripcovici and Megan Guidry were 9-8 (2) winners at third doubles. Tripcovici won by identical scores at third singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Jana Luste, competing at second singles defeated Hilary Valenzuela, 6-1, 6-2.
Manhattan's only win came at sixth singles.
The Highlanders will return to action on Saturday when the team travels to Stony Brook.
