HEMPSTEAD, NY – The NJIT women's tennis team extended its win streak to five with a convincing 6-1 victory at Hofstra Saturday evening at the Hofstra Outdoor Tennis Center.

NJIT swept the doubles competition and took five out of six singles contests from Hofstra.

Doubles pair Nina Mayevska and Jana Luste were 8-2 winners at first doubles followed by an 8-1 victory at the second spot by Ksenia Kuzmenko and Hannelore MacDonald.  Highlander pair Monika Graff and Ana Lidon earned an 8-3 victory at third doubles.

Mayevska won in straight sets at second singles, 6-4, 6-0 over Hofstra's Malissa Gilanchi.  Graff, a freshman, went the distance at third singles but came out on top 0-6, 6-0, 6-3 over Lauren Clifton.

Luste, competing at the fourth spot was a 6-2, 6-1 winner over Christie Gattelaro and Martina Tripcovici added a 6-4, 6-0 victory at fifth singles.  Lidon earned a 7-6 (1), 6-2 victory at the sixth spot for NJIT.

The Highlanders will return to action on Wednesday when the team host Manhattan at 4:30pm in The Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility.
