The Highlanders, who have played seven of their first nine games at home, will play their final home game in 2011, as they host Saint Peter's in a non-conference game on Wednesday at 1pm in the Estelle and Zoom Fleisher Athletic Center.
This will be the third all-time meeting between the two teams with Saint Peter's holding a 2-0 record. The Peahens defeated NJIT 67-61 in Newark on November 28, 2006 and in Jersey City, 68-52 on November 14, 2007.
NJIT is coming off a 54-44 non-conference loss to Colgate Sunday afternoon. Playing for the first time in a week, the Highlanders fell under .500 for the first time this season, going to 4-5.
The only double-figure scorer for the Highlanders was sophomore
Uju Nwankwo, who finished with 14 points and was the only player on the team to make more than 40 percent of her shots from the floor. She connected on 6-of-9 from the field.
Nwankwo leads the team in three categories – points (10.7ppg), steals (14) and field-goal percentage (38-71, 54 percent) this season.
Junior guard
Rayven Johnson pulled down a personal season-high 11 rebounds to pace NJIT on the boards. Johnson is the team leader with 6.5rpg.
Freshman center
Nicole Maticka totaled eight rebounds and three blocked shots, raising her program Division I-record season total to 31. Maticka is ranked seventh in the nation in the latest Division I blocked shots per game statistics.
Saint Peter's, 0-8 on the year, is coming off a 66-52 loss at home to Hofstra on Sunday. The Peahens Jynae Judson led all scorers with 21 points, her fourth consecutive game finishing in double-figures, while adding eight rebounds, two assists and three steals.
Judson, who returns back to the Peahens squad after missing the first four games, is the team's leading scorer and rebounder (16.0ppg and 5.8rpg). Teammate Aziza May is averaging 8.6ppg and leads the team in assists (37) and steals (15).
The Peahens and Highlanders have played three similar opponents this season – Bucknell, Lehigh and Fairleigh Dickinson. Both teams came up short against Lehigh and Fairleigh Dickinson but the Highlanders edged Bucknell 54-53 on December 3.

After the Highlanders host Saint Peter's, it will be nine straight away games from home beginning with a game at Minnesota of the Big Ten Conference on December 23.
Minnesota (7-6 overall, 5-1 at home) have won its last three out of four contests, all coming at home. The only loss in the stretch came against top-ranked Baylor on December 4.
