Audrey Snell recorded a match-high 22 digs as Utah Valley recorded its 13
th win of the season in a 3-0 victory over the Highlanders in Great West Conference women's volleyball action at the Activity Center Saturday afternoon.
The Wolverines (13-6 overall, 3-0 in conference play) defeated the visiting Highlanders in straight sets, 25-15, 25-11 and 25-20.
Utah Valley's Chelsey Heaps was the match-leader with 12 kills while three different Wolverines posted eight kills – Jaicee Kuresa (8k, 1e, 22a), Erica Nish (8k, 1e, 17a) and Sarah Clement who hit .500 for the match (8k, 0e, 16a).
Setter Brookelyn Campbell produced a double-double with 31 assists and 12 digs to go along with a match-high seven block assists. Campbell shared the honors with teammate Nish, who also posted seven block assists for the home team.
Campbell was also the match-leader with three service aces as Utah Valley held a 6-3 serving advantage over the Highlanders.
Defensively, McKenna Tait led the Wolverines with 18 digs followed by Campbell's 12.
Leading the attack for NJIT (6-13, 1-3 in GWC) was junior
Janet Snell with nine kills followed by
Julia Colombo and
Fernanda Lima, each producing five. Lima, the Highlanders sophomore middle finished the match with a .429 hitting percentage (5k, 2e, 7a) while Colombo registered a .385 hitting percentage for the match (5k, 0e, 13a).
Audrey Snell led the Highlanders defensively with 22 digs followed by
Janet Snell (8) and
Katie Goswick (7). Setter
Anna Mercado piled up a team-high 18 assists.
NJIT will play its next match on the road at Great West Conference opponent Chicago State on October 15 at 12:00pm (CT).
