GRAND FORKS, ND – North Dakota defeated NJIT, 3-0 (25-18, 25-10, 25-19) Thursday evening in Great West Conference women's volleyball action.
North Dakota (13-4, 1-1 GWC) got a match-best 10 kills from Ronni Munkeby who hit .600 for the match on 15 swings and just one error. Following Munkeby was Lisa Parlich with nine kills, one error on 14 attempts for a .571 hitting percentage.
Setter Nikki Husfeldt piled up a double-double with 35 assists and 10 digs for the home team while Taylor Bohannon led the defense with 13 digs. Husfeldt and Lexi Robinson added 10 digs for North Dakota.
Three different players posted two service aces for North Dakota as the Fighting Sioux took a 9-2 advantage. North Dakota also led from in front of the net, 13-3, led by Tia Russel with nine total blocks (one solo, eight assists).
Junior
Janet Snell was the leader for NJIT in two categories Thursday evening – nine kills and 10 digs. Setter
Anna Mercado posted 21 assists and five digs for the visitors.
Libero
Audrey Snell followed younger sister Janet in the digs category with nine while freshman
Katie Goswick collected eight digs.
The Highlanders will continue Great West Conference play on Saturday at Utah Valley. The match is scheduled for 1pm (MT).
