STATEN ISLAND, NY – Junior center Kelly Clark scored a career-high 30 points for Wagner in its 71-55 women's basketball non-conference win over visiting NJIT Tuesday night at the Spiro Sports Center.

Clark was the top scorer in the game on a 13-of-18 shooting from the field and 4-of-7 from the free throw line en route to the center's highest scoring total.

Forward Ashley Olsen registered a double-double with 14 points (6-for-11 from the field) and 11 rebounds.  Olsen also added a game-high five blocks.

Senior Megan Mahoney finished with six points and eight rebounds while sophomore Veronick Fournier dished out a game-high eight assists and grabbed seven rebounds for the Seahawks, who improve to 4-3 overall on the season.

The Highlanders had three players reach double-figures Tuesday evening led by senior Jessica Gerald's 17 points.  Point guard Kimberly Dweck established a new personal scoring high of 15 points, shooting 7-for-9 from the field.

Forward Rayven Johnson posted 11 points and seven rebounds and senior forward Ivana Seric was the team leader with eight rebounds.

Wagner's Clark and Olsen were impressive in the first half as the two accounted for 25 of the teams 38 points, making 11-of-14 first-half field goal attempts.  Olsen also had six rebounds in the opening half.

The Seahawk's Olsen started the game off with a layup and NJIT's Dweck answered on the opposite end with a jumper.

Olsen's jumper at 17:42 sparked a 15-3 run for the Seahawks as the home team extended its lead to 12, 17-5, with 12:05 remaining in the first half.

A layup by Johnson cut the Highlander lead to 10, 17-7, but Wagner would take its biggest lead of the half on a layup by Fournier, 33-19, at the 5:10 mark.

Just under the five-minute mark, the Highlanders scored seven consecutive points, led by Gerald's five points, slimming the Seahawk lead to 12, 33-21, with 2:02 remaining.

Trailing 38-24 at half, NJIT got as close to the lead as 12 points, on a layup by Gerald at the 11:03 mark, to make it a 53-41 game.  Melanie Griffin started the run hitting a jumper at the 13:10 mark and Seric followed by hitting one of two from the free throw line.

The Highlanders will return to action at home on Thursday at 7pm when they host Lehigh at the Fleisher Athletic Center.
