GRAND FORKS, ND – North Dakota defeated NJIT, 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-13) Saturday afternoon in Great West Conference women's volleyball action at the Sioux Center.
North Dakota (10-0 Great West, 21-5 overall) recorded its 11th straight victory and got a match-best 13 kills from Erin Joki, who hit .524 for the match (13 kills, 2 errors, 21 attempts) against NJIT. The Fighting Sioux posted a .380 team hitting percentage with 47 kills, 12 errors on 92 swings.
Ellen Krueger had a match-best 41 assists for North Dakota, while Erica Turner collected 14 digs on defense. Ronni Munkeby led the Fighting Sioux in front of the net with four block assists as North Dakota had a slight team blocking advantage at the net, 6-3.
Sophomore middle Fernanda Lima was the kills leaders for the Highlanders with 10, while Janet Snell added eight kills and eight digs.
Setter Anna Mercado led NJIT with 25 assists and one service ace. On defense, Audrey Snell and sister Janet led the way with eight digs apiece. Lima added two block assists.
The Highlanders will play its final regular season match on Thursday at 7pm, when its hosts Great West Conference foe Utah Valley in the Fleisher Athletic Center. Thursday will be senior night, as the Highlanders will recognize senior Baaba Hughes in pregame ceremonies.
