JERSEY CITY – The NJIT men's tennis team topped Saint Peter's 5-2 Sunday afternoon at the Yanitelli Center recording the team's first victory of the 2010 season.

Saint Peter's began the match taking the first two doubles contests, 8-1 and 8-6 before NJIT's doubles pair Bryan Keelan and Dan Salomon rebounded for an 8-0 win at the third spot.  Salomon won by identical scores, 6-2, 6-2 over Saint Peter's Luccas Popisil at sixth singles.

In singles, Stephen Erickson (first), Carl Lundquist (third) and Dimitri Athans (fifth) were victorious for NJIT winning in straight sets.

Senior captain # Cosmin Chiujdea# went the distance at fourth singles falling in the first set 3-6 but bounced back with a 6-2, 6-3 victory.

The Highlanders return to action on Saturday at 8 pm when they host Bryant at the Bogota Racquet Club.
