, NJChico Lugo scored the game's only goal for NJIT in a 1-0 men's soccer win over visiting Longwood University in Atlantic Soccer Conference action Saturday afternoon at Lubetkin Field at J. Malcolm Simon Stadium.

Lugo, a junior midfielder, picked up his third goal of the season finishing a cross from freshman Jack McVey at 56:03 for what would be the only scoring of the day.  Lugo ranks second of the team with three goals and six points.  McVey registered his first college assist.

With two minutes remaining in the match, Longwood's Devin Pierce headed the ball less than 10 yards in front of the Highlander goal but NJIT's goalkeeper Sutherland was in position to make the save.

NJIT with two (1-0 wins) in the last three contests, is now 4-8 overall, 1-0 in Atlantic Soccer Conference play with today's victory.

Next on the schedule is a non-conference road contest, as the Highlanders visit Lehigh for a 7 pm match Tuesday in Bethlehem, PA.
