Men’s Lacrosse Hosts UMass Lowell Saturday Night Under the Lights

​NEWARK, NJ–The NJIT men's lacrosse team will host UMass Lowell Saturday night under the lights in an America East Conference matchup.

Series History
UMass Lowell leads the all-time series, 6-3.  The Highlanders have won the last two out of three contests between the RiverHawks.

Reigning America East Rookie of the Week
Freshman Blake Piscitiello has been named America East Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

Piscitiello picked up his third America East Conference Rookie of the Week accolades after combining for three goals, four assists and seven points in a road loss at Bryant over the weekend.

He has recorded at least one goal in 10 out of 11 games this season, including a personal-best six goals vs. St. John's on February 8.  He tallied at least one assist in nine out of 11 games with a personal-best five assists vs. Hampton in his collegiate debut.

Blake Piscitiello Rankings in the America East
Piscitiello ranks second in the America East in assists per game (2.00), points per game (4.45) and third in goals per game (2.45). 

Last Time Out
Freshmen Blake Piscitiello and Carson Piscitiello each recorded hat tricks, but NJIT fell to Bryant, 14-9, in America East men's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon.

Carson Piscitiello paced the Highlanders' attack with three goals on four shots, converting each of his attempts on target. Blake Piscitiello added three goals and four assists, leading all players in points and continuing to drive the NJIT offense. Ryan Sininsky chipped in with a goal and an assist while registering nine shots, including three on goal.

Scouting UMass Lowell
UMass Lowell enters Saturday's contest with a 2-7 overall record, 0-3 in the America East and has lost its last six contests.  

The two wins for the RiverHawks this season have come against Mercyhurst (14-13, 2OT) and Wagner (16-7).

Leading the UMass Lowell offense is Alex LaFreniere with 16 goals followed by Danny Burke with 14.  Burke paces the team with eight assists.

NJIT will conclude the America East Conference road slate on Saturday, April 18 at UMBC. Face-off is set for 12Noon on ESPN+.
