NEWARK, N.J. — NJIT's
Cameron Kurdyla has been named America East Goalkeeper of the Week, while
Carson Piscitiello earned America East Rookie of the Week honors, the America East Conference office announced Monday.
The NJIT Highlanders secured their first conference victory of the season with a 13–7 win over the Binghamton Bearcats on Saturday night.
NJIT (4-5, 1-0 America East) capitalized on extra-man opportunities, scoring three goals with the advantage, and held Binghamton (2-6, 1-1 America East) scoreless in the third quarter.
The Highlanders' defense proved pivotal in maintaining the lead, highlighted by Kurdyla's standout performance in goal. He recorded 14 saves and posted a .667 save percentage, helping limit the Bearcats despite their 36 shots.
Piscitiello contributed offensively with two goals and one assist in the victory.
