Men’s Lacrosse Picks Up First America East Win of Season Over Binghamton

​NEWARK, NJ — The NJIT men's lacrosse team recorded its first America East Conference victory of the season with a 13-7 win over visiting Binghamton Saturday afternoon at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium.

NJIT (4-5, 1-0 America East) capitalized on extra-man opportunities, scoring three goals with the advantage, and held Binghamton (2-6, 1-1 America East) scoreless in the third quarter. NJIT's defense was crucial in maintaining the lead, with its goalie Cameron Kurdyla recording 14 saves, while Binghamton struggled to convert its 36 shots into goals.
 


Dylan Sebastian led with three goals on four shots.  Carson Piscitiello contributed significantly with two goals and one assist, registering four shots on goal. Blake Piscitiello aided the offense by distributing three assists while taking five shots. Meanwhile, Wyatt Viste recorded two goals and one assist, converting both of his shots on goal.

The first quarter began with Ryan Sininsky scoring the opening goal for NJIT at 14:03. Binghamton scored a pair of goals in a span of one minute to take a 2-1 advantage at the 10:51 mark. NJIT responded as Wyatt Viste tied the game at 2–2 with 5:24 remaining in the quarter. Both teams continued to exchange possessions and shots, but the quarter concluded with the score even at 2–2.

Flynn Wilson opened the second quarter for the Bearcats with a goal just seven seconds in, scoring a goal on his faceoff win. The Highlanders responded with a man-up goal by Callum Zarsky at 13:30, assisted by Viste, making use of a penalty on Binghamton. Binghamton regained the lead at the 5:20 mark, but Carson Piscitiello leveled the score for NJIT with a goal at 57 seconds remaining in the quarter. The quarter ended with both teams adding two goals each, maintaining a competitive balance heading into the second half.

NJIT extended its lead in the third quarter with effective offensive plays and solid defense. Dylan Sebastian scored twice, driving the home team forward with goals at 13:26 and again at 8:57. Will Corry added to the momentum with a goal at 10:30, following up on a ground ball recovery. The quarter concluded with Sebastian securing his third goal at 00:42, assisted by Blake Piscitiello. NJIT's defense, anchored by goalkeeper Cameron Kurdyla's multiple saves, kept Binghamton scoreless throughout the quarter.

A man-up opportunity early in the fourth quarter for NJIT, Viste scored at 12:51, assisted by Blake Piscitiello. Just moments later, Nirio Garcia extended the lead with another man-up goal at 12:38, scoring his first collegiate goal of his young career. Binghamton responded with a goal at 12:00 but NJIT kept their momentum with JC Echezuria scoring at 7:27, assisted by Carson Piscitiello. Binghamton scored a pair of goals but NJIT secured the win with additional goals from Carson Piscitiello and Corry late in the quarter, securing the 13-7 home victory.
