Men’s Lacrosse Hosts Jacksonville Saturday

NEWARK, NJ – The NJIT men's lacrosse team returns home Saturday to host Jacksonville at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium.

Series History
Saturday's match up marks the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

Fast Start
NJIT opened the season 2–0 for the first time since 2024, defeating the Hampton Pirates (22–8, Feb. 3) and the St. John's Red Storm (17–10, Feb. 8).

Last Time Out
NJIT dropped a 14–12 decision to Wagner Saturday afternoon at Hameline Field after the Seahawks used a seven-goal third quarter to erase a halftime deficit.

The Highlanders led 9–4 at the break, fueled by strong face-off play and an efficient offense. Wagner shifted the momentum in the third quarter, outscoring NJIT 7–1 to take an 11–10 lead into the final period.

The Seahawks extended their advantage early in the fourth quarter with goals from Jake Mitchell and Smith Callaghan to build a 13–10 lead. NJIT responded with goals from Wyatt Viste (9:49) and Ryan Sininsky on a man-up opportunity at 8:18 to cut the deficit to 13–12, but Mitchell scored his fourth goal of the game at 6:41 to seal the 14–12 Wagner victory.

America East Rookie of the Week – Blake Piscitiello
Freshman Blake Piscitiello was named America East Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

Piscitiello totaled six points on four goals and two assists during a 1–1 week for the Highlanders. The 5-foot-10 attacker from Lakeville, Minnesota recorded two goals and one assist in each game against Monmouth and Wagner.

Piscitiello currently ranks tied for first on the team in goals (20) and leads the Highlanders in assists (14) and points (34). He also ranks first in the America East in goals per game (2.86), second in points per game (4.86), and third in assists per game (2.00).

2025 Rewind
JC Echezuria earned America East All-Rookie Team honors after leading NJIT with 29 points. Emmerick Dopona posted a team-best 15 caused turnovers, while O'Brien recorded 28 ground balls, the most among non-faceoff players. Goalkeeper Joey Schwarz ranked second in the conference during league play with 11.83 saves per game.

NJIT concludes its two-game homestand by hosting Binghamton in its first America East Conference contest of the season. Opening face-off is set for 7:30 p.m. with coverage on ESPN+.
