SMITHFIELD, RI – The NJIT men's basketball team dropped a 69-52 decision to Bryant on Saturday afternoon, moving the Highlanders to 10-5 in America East play.
The opening half was defined by momentum swings, as both teams traded scoring runs. NJIT struck first, using a 6-0 spurt to build a 9-2 advantage at the game's first media timeout. Bryant answered immediately with a 5-0 run coming out of the break to tighten the contest.
After a competitive first 20 minutes, the Bulldogs closed the half on an 11-0 run to take a 32-30 lead into the locker room.
Bryant carried that momentum into the second half, controlling the game on both ends of the floor. Spanning the final minutes of the first half and the opening 10 minutes of the second, the Bulldogs put together a decisive 28-6 run to pull away.
Junior Sebastian Robinson led NJIT with 15 points, while sophomore Ari Fulton added 10 points as the only other Highlander in double figures.
