Men’s Lacrosse Hosts Undefeated Sacred Heart Saturday

NEWARK, NJ — NJIT Highlanders men's lacrosse returns to Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium for its third straight home game Saturday, welcoming Sacred Heart Pioneers. 

Game Information
Opening face-off is set for 11:30 a.m., with live coverage on ESPN+ and live stats at NJITHighlanders.com.

Series History
Saturday marks the first-ever meeting between the programs.

Fast Start
NJIT opened the season 2-0 for the first time since 2024, defeating Hampton Pirates (22-8, Feb. 3) and St. John's Red Storm (17-10, Feb. 8).

Last Time Out
The Highlanders dropped an 18-14 decision to UMass Minutemen Saturday afternoon in Newark.

Blake Piscitiello totaled six points (3g, 3a), while Viste added a hat trick. Carson Bowley scored twice, and Michael Gaffney went 10-for-16 at the faceoff X.

America East Weekly Honors (Feb. 9)
NJIT swept the conference's weekly awards:

All four earned their first career honors from the America East Conference.

Highlander Leaders

2025 Rewind
JC Echezuria earned America East All-Rookie honors after leading NJIT with 29 points. Emmerick Dopona posted a team-best 15 caused turnovers, O'Brien recorded 28 ground balls (most among non-faceoff players), and Joey Schwarz ranked second in the conference in league play with 11.83 saves per game.

Scouting Sacred Heart
Sacred Heart enters at 4-0 — the best Division I start in program history — with wins over Stony Brook Seawolves, Wagner Seahawks, Holy Cross Crusaders and Fairfield Stags.

The Pioneers edged Fairfield, 13-12, behind hat tricks from Tommy Bull and Dom Basti. The win marked the 100th career victory for head coach Jon Basti.

Matt Peppe leads the team with 10 goals and 12 points, while Craig Daria is 4-0 in goal with 55 saves.

NJIT closes its four-game homestand Saturday, March 3 at 7:30 p.m. against Monmouth Hawks. The game will stream live on America East TV.
