NEWARK, NJ–Irene Cocero has been selected Big South Player of the Week for the second time this season the league office announced.
Cocero, a senior from Alcala De Henares, Spain, combined for four wins last weekend over FDU and Hofstra.
In doubles play against FDU, Laura Wipfli and Irene Cocero teamed for a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles. Cocero battled through three sets at No. 3 singles, claiming the first in a tiebreak, 7-6, before dropping the second, 6-3. She sealed the match with a 6-4 win in the deciding set.
Cocero and Laura Wipfli opened the day with a dominant 6–1 win over Aida Oviedo and Aryanah Kahnamoui, finishing first and setting the early momentum at No. 1 doubles against Hofstra. At No. 3 singles, Cocero secured a 6–4, 6–2 victory against Bohdana Bilokon.
