​NEWARK, NJ — Senior Paula Menendez Alvarez has been named the Big South Women's Tennis Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday.

Menendez Alvarez helped guide NJIT to a 1–0 week with a 5–2 victory over visiting Stony Brook.

In doubles play, the Highlander duo of Menendez Alvarez and Feyza Aydin cruised to a 6–1 win at the No. 2 position. Menendez Alvarez then battled through three sets in singles action at No. 2, earning a 6–4, 4–6, 6–2 victory over Mia Palldino.

This marks the third consecutive week an NJIT player has been selected as Big South Women's Tennis Player of the Week.
