Track and Field Competes at the Dr. Sander Scorcher Invitational This Weekend

NEW YORK, N.Y. - The NJIT track and field teams will compete at the Dr. Sander Scorcher Invitational, hosted by Columbia, on Friday and Saturday at the Armory Track & Field Center. Competition will start at 9:30 a.m. on Friday and 9:20 a.m. on Saturday.
 
Hayley Lucido won the America East Female Track Performer of the Week after running an America East-best 500m time of 1:15.16 at the Wagner Invitational.
 
Cassian Holland-Moritz won the America East Male Rookie of the Week after posting a college-best 200m time of 22.06 at the Wagner Invitational, ranking third in the conference.
 
Eatoniel Brown ranks fifth in the America East in the 200m with a personal-best time of 22.12.
 
Aniya Wilkins ran a personal-best 500m time of 1:16.69 at the Youree Spence Garcia Invitational, ranking fifth in the conference.
 
Jessie Fotheringham broke the 1,000m school record at the Gotham Cup with a personal-best time of 2:50.56, which ranks second in the America East. She also set the school record in the 5,000m with a personal-best time of 16:34.31 at the Sharon Colyear Danville Season Opener, ranking third in the conference.
 
Sarah Van Ornum ranks fourth in the conference in the mile with a time of 5:00.77. William Mitchell posted a personal-best 5,000m of 14:42.87 at the Armory Collegiate Distance Carnival, ranking fifth in the America East.
 
Jason Alvarez set the school record in the 60m hurdles with a personal-best time of 8.29 at the Youree Spence Garcia Invitational, which ranks fourth in the conference.
 
Zaidah Lightener broke the program record in the long jump with a college-best 6.02m at the Youree Spence Garcia Invitational, which leads the America East. Maria Owens ranks third in the long jump (5.61m).
 
Matin Mahmoud (14.57m) and Ryan Nartey (14.37m) rank fourth and fifth in the conference in the triple jump.
 
The men's (3:17.96) and women's (3:55.22) 4x400m relay teams both rank third in the America East.
 
Next Up
The Highlanders will have another split weekend at the Mets Indoor Championships on Jan. 30 at Ocean Breeze Complex and the Millrose Games on Feb. 1 at the Armory Track & Field Center.
