PHILADELPHIA–-The NJIT men's and women's fencing teams opened the 2026 campaign over the weekend at the Dave Micahnik Penn Invitational.

NJIT competed against Sacred Heart, Haverford, UC San Diego, NYU, Duke, Ohio State, Wagner and host UPenn.

Leading the way for the NJIT women was Stella Frias who combined for a 17-7 overall record on the day (70.83 winning percentage) in women's foil competition.

Freshman Dila Erdogan registered 13 victories in the women's sabre competition.

On the men's side, Adrian Figueredo went 14-7 in men's sabre competition and Paul Veltrup tallied 12 wins in the men's epee competition 

The two teams will return to action on January 31 at the Eric Sollee Competition.
