WEST POINT, NY–The NJIT women's tennis team competed at the West Point Invitational this past weekend.

"It is always a pleasure to be included as one of the eight teams to participate in the West Point Invite.  It is a fast format of 4 singles and 5 doubles matches.  It is a great opportunity to try different doubles pairings and work on fine tuning singles play against many different opponents.  The team is competing hard and working to be prepared for the ITA regionals and the Big South Conference invitational individual tournament"

About the Invitational
The individual singles and doubles matches were played on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at both the indoor Lichtenberg Tennis Center and the outdoor Malek Tennis Courts. Friday was set for doubles pro-set matches, and Saturday was set for pro-set singles action. Sunday featured both singles and doubles. The teams competing in the invitational were Sacred Heart, Bucknell, Quinnipiac, NJIT, FDU, Fordham, Fairfield and host Army West Point.

Highlander Highlights 

• Feyza Aydin had an impressive weekend going 5-2, with three strong singles victories.

• Freshman Diana Fernandez continued to excel in her second collegiate match of her career, going 3-1 in singles action.

• Lusia Hepcal Barcan went 3-1 in singles action.
