NEWARK, N.J. - Briana Andreoli broke the program record with her 17th career goal in the 43rd minute, but NJIT (5-3-3, 0-1-1 AE) suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 loss to UAlbany (2-6-2, 1-1 AE) on Sunday afternoon at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium.

UAlbany's Casey Stowell scored the game-winning goal with 41 seconds remaining after a collision involving NJIT goalkeeper
Mojisola Ayodele and
Maria Nogueira.
NJIT created several early opportunities. In the 7th minute,
Merle Hueser fired a shot off a corner kick, but UAlbany's goalkeeper Claudia Volino made a diving save. Just 18 seconds later,
Emily Jozak's shot was again denied by Volino.
UAlbany struck first in the 33rd minute, as Madison Hnis netted her third goal of the season from long range.
Andreoli's record-breaking goal came just 10 minutes later and was assisted by
Kara Thompson and
Kirra Hyder—marking the first collegiate assists for both players. The game was tied 1-1 at halftime.
In the 78th minute,
Kennedy Westbrook connected on a header off a corner kick, but Volino made another diving save to keep the game tied.
Despite the loss, NJIT led in shots (25-15), shots on goal (10-6), and corner kicks (13-3), while UAlbany held a slight edge in possession (51%-49%).

NJIT will host first-place Binghamton on Thursday, Oct. 2, at 6:00 p.m. at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium.
