HAVERFORD, Pa. - Jessie Fotheringham broke the 5K program record with a time of 17:46.2 to finish fourth at the Main Line Invitational on Friday at Featherbed Fields.

"As a team we needed to get out of our practice bubble and see some other teams to get the competitive juices flowing, which is what we did today," distance coach
Mike Cook said. "We had some commendable debuts by our new international freshman. The heat got to everyone, but we know where we're at in our process, how excellent the training has been, and so we are very much looking forward to bringing our full strength line up to the Paul Short Invitational in two weeks."

Sarah Van Ornum was the second Highlander to finish, recording a 5K time of 18:39.7 to finish in 14th place.
Kimmie Harding ran a personal-best 5K time of 19:24.9 to finish 30th.
Jenna Keith (61st / 20:59.5) and
Diya Inta (78th / 22:06.8) rounded out the scoring for the NJIT women.

Lasse Bjørn Jensen led the NJIT men with a four-mile time of 20:15.5 to finish in 20th place.
Anthony Dvorsky finished 25th with a four-mile time of 20:26.8 and
William Mitchell ran a time of 20:45.3 to finish in 35th place.
Fabian Herrera (69th / 21:52.0) and
Judah Garcia Phillips (70th / 21:57.4) rounded out the scoring for the Highlanders.

NEXT UP
After a week off, NJIT will travel to Bethlehem, Pa. for the Paul Short Invitational on Friday, October 3 at the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course.
