Postgame interview with head coach Ally Nick, senior Kara Thompson, and senior Kennedy Yon

NEWARK, N.J. - The NJIT women's soccer team (5-2-2) closed out its homestand with a 1-1 draw against North Texas on Saturday at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium.

Kelsey Ramos scored a goal for the third straight game in the 16th minute, assisted by Mikayla Balio.

North Texas responded in the 36th minute with a goal by Summer Brown, assisted by Georgia Guenther and Rydlii Rives.

The Mean Green had multiple opportunities to take the lead. In the 71st minute, Peyton Renfro's shot hit off the cross bar. North Texas' Lillian Vindiver fired a shot from outside the box in the 83rd minute, but Mojisola Ayodele made a leaping save. Just one minute later, another shot by Vindiver was on target, but Maria Nogueira made the stop.

Ayodele recorded a career-high 12 saves — her second straight game setting a personal best. She was one of five Highlanders to play the full 90 minutes, along with Merle Hueser, Nogueira, Caitlin Mahala and Kennedy Yon.

North Texas led in shots (27-10), shots on target (14-4), and possession (59%-41%), while NJIT had a slight edge in corner kicks (7-5).
