NEWARK, N.J. - The NJIT women's soccer team (2-2-0) fell to Lehigh (2-2-0), 2-1, on Wednesday night at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium.
 
The game remained scoreless until the 63rd minute, when Lehigh's Savannah Conner scored her first goal of the season, assisted by Aminah Baruwa. Just two minutes later, Sophia Lis added a second goal for the Mountain Hawks, assisted by Eden Freeman Warren.
 
NJIT responded quickly, as 
Sofia Mignon scored her first goal of the season on a free kick in the 68th minute, assisted by 
Kennedy Westbrook.
 Mignon, Westbrook, 
Merle Hueser, and 
Maria Nogueira each played the full 90 minutes. The Highlanders also blocked seven shots.
 
Lehigh led in shots (20-9), corner kicks (3-2), and possession (53%-47%), but NJIT had a slight edge in shots on goal (6-5).
 
NEXT UP
The Highlanders play Rider on the road in an in-state matchup on Sunday, Aug. 31.
