Newark, N.J. – NJIT head coach Grant Billmeier has announced the addition of transfer forward Melvyn Ebonkoli to the program.

Ebonkoli comes to Newark by way of University of Missouri Kansas City where he spent the previous two seasons. The graduate student also spent time at Missouri State while also playing one year at Independence Community College.

"We're very excited to add Melvyn to our program with our last scholarship," Billmeier said. "Our coaching staff and I have known Melvyn for a few years now and it's great to finally have him in the program."

Ebonkoli was the lone Kansas City player to appear in all 33 games last season. He averaged 6.8 points per game and sat second on the team with 5.2 rebounds per contest. Ebonkoli was a force on the glass on the offensive end especially, ranking fifth in the Summit League with 2.0 offensive boards per game.

"Melvyn is an experienced forward who will make a major impact in our program right away," Billmeier said. "I look forward to Melvyn being a tremendous leader in our program and also fitting in extremely well with everyone on campus with his tremendous personality."
