NEWARK, NJ – The NJIT men's basketball team falls to Sacred Heart, 65-49, on Saturday afternoon.
The Highlanders offense opened the game on a cold streak only scoring 12 points in the first ten minutes of the half.
Both offenses struggled to start the game with both teams shooting under 40% from the field and under 30% from behind the arc.
After twenty minutes of play the Highlanders went into the break down 28-24. Junior
Sebastian Robinson led the team with seven points and sophomore
Malachi Arrington corralled six rebounds through the first half.
Coming out of the half, the Highlanders shooting continued to miss the mark as halfway through the second half the team only scoring again 12 points. Scoring droughts and turnovers plagued the Highlanders up to this point of the game which found the Pioneers holding an 11-point lead.
For the remainder of the half, the Highlanders offense stayed cold as the Pioneers were able to pull away for the win.
Leading the way for the Highlanders was sophomore
Ari Fulton who finished with 11 points and seven rebounds on 5-12 shooting from the field.
