Sabeh Breaks Hammer Throw School Record, Nartey Wins Triple Jump at the Sam Howell Invite

NJIT records 18 personal-bests and 12 top-five marks in program history

PRINCETON, N.J. - The NJIT outdoor track and field teams competed at the Sam Howell Invite hosted by Princeton on Friday at the Weaver Track and Field Stadium. The Highlanders achieved 18 personal-bests and 12 top-five marks in program history.
 
Andrew Sabeh set personal-bests in both the hammer throw and discus, with his hammer throw breaking a 14-year school record with a mark of 54.00m.

Ryan Nartey secured a win in the men's triple jump with a mark of 14.34m.

Jason Ballen finished second in the javelin with a throw of 59.74m.

Gabriel Truehart ran a personal-best 400m time of 49.07 in the 400m, which ranks fourth in program history.

Kierstin Ashby also recorded a personal best in the women's 400m, with a time of 56.92 to finish eighth.

In the 110m hurdles, Jeusten Jourdain set a personal-best time of 15.23, which is the fifth-best in school history.

Robbie Tormo sprinted at a personal-best time of 22.11 in the men's 200m, which places him third in school history. Pietro Carpentari (22.30) and Jourdain (22.38) finished 10th and 11th, respectively.

Zaidah Lightener finished third with a long jump mark of 5.60m.

Marvellous Bassey delivered a personal-best mark of 6.60m in the long jump to finish sixth.

NJIT will have a split weekend at the Duke Invitational on April 12 and Bucknell Bison Invite on April 12-13.
