NEWARK, N.J. - The NJIT men's lacrosse team (1-8, 0-3 AE) lost to Bryant (6-4, 3-1 AE), 15-6, on Saturday afternoon at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium.
NJIT got off to a strong start with
Will Labartino scoring the first goal just 40 seconds into the game, assisted by
Christopher Eiselein.
Michael Rettberg added his second goal of the season a few minutes later to give NJIT a 2-0 lead.
Alystair Hemberger also scored in the first quarter, as the Highlanders led 3-1 after 15 minutes.
Bryant outscored NJIT 12-1 in the next two quarters.
Adyn Cover and Hemberger scored for NJIT in the fourth quarter.
Kenny McGoldrick,
Austin Hahn, and
Sullivan O'Brien each recorded two caused turnovers.
Joey Schwarz made 15 saves and O'Brien also picked up five ground balls.
Although NJIT won 15-of-24 (62.5%) faceoffs, Bryant outshot NJIT 56-29 and held a 41-24 advantage in ground balls.
