Vestal, N.Y. – The NJIT baseball team dropped the middle game of its three-game series at Binghamton on Saturday afternoon, 13-6.
Cole Campbell collected a career-high four base hits, while
Mason Wolf and
Ray Ortiz each collected three knocks.
How it Happened
The Bearcats used the long ball to control this game throughout. Binghamton got out to the early lead behind a pair of solo home runs and a sacrifice fly to take a 3-0 lead into the fifth. NJIT would mount a threat in that inning, scoring on a fielder's choice from
Austin Francis and a bases loaded walk by
CJ Wisniewski to pull within a run.
In the bottom of the fifth, two more home runs plated four more runs for the Bearcats to extend their lead to 7-2. After a rain delay in the sixth, the Highlanders brought home two more on RBI singles from Campbell and Wolf. However, Binghamton posted multiple runs again in the sixth and seventh innings to keep its distance from NJIT and earn the win.
