NEWARK, NJ–The NJIT women's tennis team pushed its win streak to seven with a convincing 6-1 win at home over visiting Sacred Heart Tuesday afternoon inside The Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility.
With the win, NJIT improves to 7-2 overall and 6-0 at home in Newark.
Quote from head coach Patricia Piorkowski McDonald
"The women continue to come out strong early in doubles play. It really has been setting the tone. In singles, a lot of well-constructed points and discipline. I am happy with how much the ladies are focusing on their game plan. It is allowing each of them to have success. Mentally it was a good day for the HIghlanders against a solid SHU team."
NJIT swept the doubles competition and won five out of six singles contests to secure the 6-1 home victory.
In doubles action, Laura Wipfli and Irene Cocero combined for a 6-2 victory at first doubles while Arina Babkova and Shalom Salvi won 6-2 at the second spot. Paula Menendez Alvarez and Feyza Aydin combined for a 6-1 win at third doubles.
