NJIT Men’s Lacrosse Travels to Monmouth for a Midweek Game

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - The NJIT men's lacrosse team (0-3) travels for a midweek road game against Monmouth (2-3) on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Kessler Stadium. The game will be streamed live on FloCollege.
 
NJIT NEWS & NOTES
NJIT enters the contest with an 0-3 record, most recently falling to Drexel, 17-5, on Feb. 26.
 
Isaac Vanzomeren was named the America East Faceoff Specialist of the Week on March 3 after winning 15-of-25 faceoffs (a season high 60%) and recording nine ground balls against Drexel. Vanzomeren ranks second in the America East with 8.67 ground balls per game and fourth in the conference with a 56.9% faceoff percentage (41-of-72).
 
JC Echezuria earned America East Rookie of the Week honors on Feb. 10 after recording five points (3 goals, 2 assists) against St. John's. His five-point performance is the most points by a Highlander in a collegiate debut in program history. He leads the team with seven points this season (4 goals, 3 assists).
 
Alystair Hemberger leads the Highlanders with five goals this season. He recorded the first hat trick of his collegiate career against St. John's on Feb. 8. Benjamin Roberts has recorded at least one point in 11 of the last 12 games.
 
Ryan Sininsky and Russell Maher have scored three goals each this season. Maher was selected as an Impact Transfer to Watch by Inside Lacrosse.
 
Jadon McKenzie and Darren Romaine lead NJIT with three caused turnovers each.
 
SCOUTING MONMOUTH
Monmouth enters the contest with a 2-3 record but is on a two-game winning streak after a 16-7 win against Wagner on Feb. 25 and an 11-10 comeback victory against Mount St. Mary's on March 1.
 
Connor Gorman leads the Hawks with 12 points this season (10 goals, 2 assists). Gabe Bowen-Slott leads Monmouth with six caused turnovers. Goalkeeper Tommy Heller has a 10.60 goals-against average and a 54.3% save percentage.
 
The Hawks lead the all-time series 7-2. However, NJIT beat Monmouth at home in overtime last season on Ryan Sininsky's game-winning goal.

NJIT returns to Newark for a game against Wagner on Saturday, March 8, at noon at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium. The game will be streamed live on America East TV.
