VESTAL, N.Y. - The NJIT men's lacrosse team (1-5, 0-0 AE) opens America East play at Binghamton (2-4, 1-0 AE) on Saturday at noon at Bearcats Sports Complex. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+, with Erik Columbia on the call.

NJIT enters the contest with a 1-5 record, most recently falling to Lafayette, 14-4, on March 11.
Russell Maher recorded his first hat trick as a Highlander against Wagner on March 8. He ranks second on the team with nine points (6 goals, 3 assists). Maher was selected as an Impact Transfer to Watch by Inside Lacrosse.
Isaac Vanzomeren was named the America East Faceoff Specialist of the Week on March 3 after winning 15-of-25 faceoffs (a season high 60%) and recording nine ground balls against Drexel on Feb. 26. Vanzomeren ranks second in the America East and eighth in the nation with 7.50 ground balls per game. NJIT ranks 20th in the country in faceoff winning percentage (55.1%).
JC Echezuria earned America East Rookie of the Week honors on Feb. 10 after recording five points (3 goals, 2 assists) against St. John's. His five-point performance is the most points by a Highlander in a collegiate debut in program history. He leads the team with 12 points this season (7 goals, 5 assists), scoring two goals against Lafayette.
Christopher Eiselein (6 goals, 1 assist) and
Alystair Hemberger (6 goals, 1 assist) have recorded seven points each this season. Eiselein leads the Highlanders with two man-up goals.
Jadon McKenzie leads the team with five caused turnovers this season.
Sullivan O'Brien and
Gabe Thompson lead all NJIT non-faceoff players with 13 ground balls each.
Joey Schwarz made ten saves in each of the last two games, including his first career start against Wagner.
SCOUTING BINGHAMTON
Binghamton enters the contest with a 2-4 record, most recently securing a 14-12 victory against UMass Lowell. The Bearcats are on a two-game winning streak.
Liam Ferris (13 G, 5 A) and Andrew Girolamo (12 G, 3 A) are the leading scorers for Binghamton this season. Gage Adams won the America East Offensive Player of the Week after recording six points (3 G, 3 A) against UMass Lowell. Nolan Sharkey leads the team with 20 ground balls and seven caused turnovers.
Binghamton leads the all-time series, 5-0, including a 17-12 win over NJIT in Newark last season.
Benjamin Roberts recorded a hat trick for the Highlanders against Binghamton in 2024.
NEXT UP
The Highlanders will begin a two-game homestand against Vermont on March 29 at 1:00 p.m. at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
