NJIT Men’s Lacrosse Suffers Home Loss Against Drexel

NEWARK, N.J. - The NJIT men's lacrosse team (0-3) suffered a 17-5 loss against Drexel (2-2) on Wednesday night at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium.
 
Drexel jumped out to a start, with two goals by Witt Crawford in the first two minutes of the game. Christopher Eiselein tallied his second goal of the season at the 10:42 mark of the first quarter. Both teams were held scoreless for the rest of the period, and Drexel led 2-1 at the end of the first quarter.
 
The Dragons extended their lead with five straight goals to start the second quarter. Alystair Hemberger scored his fifth goal of the season with 1:49 left in the first half. Drexel held a 7-2 lead at halftime.
 
Drexel maintained its momentum in the second half, scoring 10 goals. Russell Maher, Austin Hahn and JC Echezuria scored in the second half for the Highlanders. Hahn recorded the first goal of his collegiate career.
 
Isaac Vanzomeren won 15-of-25 (60%) faceoffs, but Drexel outshot NJIT 42-32 and held a 31-22 edge on ground balls.
 
Witt Crawford led the Dragons with six points (4 goals, 2 assists), while Max Semple added four goals. Conor Hooley and Owen Knight each recorded three points. Goalkeeper Drew McGill made nine saves.
