WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J - The NJIT men's lacrosse team (0-4) lost to Monmouth (3-3), 18-4, on Wednesday afternoon at Kessler Stadium.
Monmouth got off to a strong start, scoring six straight goals to open the game. Freshman
Christopher Eiselein tallied two goals in the first quarter, including a man-up goal.
JC Echezuria scored his fifth goal of the season in the second quarter.
Emmerick Dopona added the first goal of his collegiate career in the same period, but Monmouth had a 10-4 lead at halftime.
The Hawks shut out the Highlanders in the second half, outscoring them 8-0.
Despite winning 15-of-25 faceoffs (60%) and holding a 33-28 advantage in ground balls, NJIT was outshot by Monmouth, 39-34.
Ty Caffarellli scored four goals for Monmouth, while Brendan Dundas recorded five points (2 goals, 3 assists). Goalkeeper Tommy Heller made nine saves.

NJIT returns to Newark for a game against Wagner on Saturday, March 8, at noon at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium. The game will be streamed live on America East TV.
